About Marija Bichan
I am currently studying for an MA in Ceramics at UCA (2025–2027), researching liminality and cultural identity: that in-between state of not fully belonging to the culture you were born into, nor to the one your parents came from. I work through this in clay using inclusions, pressing organic and found materials into the clay body to create forms that sit between states, neither wholly one thing nor another. The ceramics process itself becomes a way of thinking about that threshold experience. My hand building and throwing complement each other, driven by the same curiosity that runs through my research and my teaching: a desire to keep learning and to share what I find.
